My name is Calvin Vruggink, (vroo-jink) I create intricate images known as macro photography.

Macro photography is a type of close-up photography initially developed for scientific research. Macro photography images usually feature a small or tiny vivid detail in a larger-than-life format.

I love working with light!  The light describes everything in our lives. The light allows us to create and illuminate the shapes, textures and colors which help make our lives a beautiful and delicate thing while pushing us past the bounders of our naked eye. I especially enjoy the intricate and sometimes tedious moments of struggling to find the beauty of each and everything I am lighting.  There is constant amazement in the things I see while working in this sometimes very tiny world which, for the most part goes unseen.

Our world is filled with beautiful things, not always easy to find but they are worth looking for. There are times when our lives are busy and we forget to look for the simple beauty in our daily routines. Do yourself a favor, please slow down, take a few breaths and find your own words that describe your likes and dislikes of the images you have in your life.

If I can create a place where people stop, look and say, “HHMMM interesting.” I’ll be a happy guy.
